
Red cup season comes around and every where you go they are blasting the christmas tunes. It’s super simple to make this most delicious coffee drink of the season at home.
Ingredients:
- For the Peppermint Syrup
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon Peppermint Extract
- For the Chocolate Syrup
- 1 cup cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- Dash of salt
- Milk
- Espresso or strong coffee
- Whipping Cream
- Candy cane
Method
- To make the peppermint syrup: Combine sugar and water in a small sauce pan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and cook for 5 minutes. Add peppermint extract and remove from heat and let cool. Pour into a glass jar or squeeze bottle with a lid. Can be stored in the refridgerator for several weeks.
- To make the chocolate syrump: Combine the water, sugar, cocoa powder, and salk in a small sauce pan and whisk over low heat. Stir constantly until the sauce begins to simmer and mixure is thickened. Remove from the heat, stir in vanilla and let cool. Pour into a glass jar or a queeze bottle with a lid. Can be stored in the refridgerator for several weeks.
- Prepare your espresso or strong coffee.
- Steam your milk.
- Whip the cream until stiff.
- Chop up your candy cane into small pieces.
- In a mug, add your chocolate syrup and peppermint syrup to taste. Pour your espresso shot in and give it a quick stir. Add steamed milk. Top with whipped cream and garnish with peppermint candy cane pieces. Enjoy!
