Cheesy Biscuits

Port and cheesy biscuits go together like Fred & Ginger, Peanut Butter and Jelly, Sherlock and Watson. This sweet and savory pairing is a match made in heaven. Cheers – Bartender Baylee.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • 8 ounces sharp cheddar, cut into chunks
  • 1 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground red pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Method:

  1. Line baking sheets with parchment.
  2. Place all ingredients in a food processor and process until the mixture comes together.
  3. Roll dough into a log shape and wrap in cling film or wax paper. Chill the dough in the freezer at least 30 minutes or longer in the refrigerator.
  4. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C).
  5. Place dough on a lightly floured work surface. Slice the log into 1/8 inch thick biscuits and place on prepared baking sheets.
  6. Bake your cheesy biscuits for 12-15 minutes or until light golden brown.
  7. Let cool on baking sheets. These biscuits can be stored in an air-tight container for up to 1 week.
  8. Serve cooled biscuits with a glass of port. Enjoy!

Baker Baylee’s Tip: Roll the log in poppy seeds before slicing to make your biscuits extra special.
